How to Start Your New Year in the Right Foot – 360 Financial Strategists
As a new year rolls in, many of us feel excited about a fresh start. It’s a time when we think about what we want to change or improve in our lives. That’s where new year’s resolutions come in – they’re like promises we make to ourselves.
But sometimes, keeping those promises isn’t easy. In this guide, we’ll learn how to kick off the new year on the right foot!
How to start your New Years on the right foot
If you’re like me, the start of the new year feels hopeful and full of chances to do new things. You might get excited about planning what you want to do in the year ahead:
– Plan a trip to Europe
– Get healthier for summer
– Eat more veggies and drink less to lose weight
– Pay off your credit cards
– Try to sleep for 8 hours every night
– Take a free online course
– Learn how to surf
But then, September comes around, and things haven’t gone as planned. You’re still not sleeping enough, you’ve gained weight, and Dry July is over.
So, what happened?
You probably tried to do too much with your new year resolution and didn’t focus on what’s most important to you.
So what can you do?
First, focus on what’s important to you and forget about things that are just nice but not necessary. This will help you concentrate on a few important things and not get too distracted.
Second, start small and take little steps toward your goals. For example, if you want to pay off a $5,000 credit card, try putting aside an extra $100 each week. This will add up over time. Remember, small steps can make a big difference!
Third, start with easy tasks to make the rest seem less scary. If you have lots of old super funds, start by checking your MyGov account to see which ones are still active. While you’re there, you can do other quick tasks like choosing a beneficiary and checking your investments. Taking care of small tasks can make your big goals feel more manageable.
Lastly, don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Whether you want to buy a house, save for your kid’s education, or just get better at managing your money, there are people who can help you figure it out. Asking for help is a smart move!
